Day 19: NYC: MoMA & A Bronx Tale

The Myrtle Promenade is a pedestrian walkway that connects our apartment to the subway stop and the Brooklyn TKTS Booth where you can get half price tickets to Broadway shows. With no line we took our time in choosing from a long list of possibilities. Ellen would be joining us so a musical was required. We were so excited to get 2nd row center seats to A Bronx Tale!

We met up with Ellen at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The focus for today was 17th and 18th century paintings. Listening to the audio descriptions of the works of art kept us raptured for hours.

There was a special Frank Loyd Wright exhibition which comprises approximately 450 works made from the 1890s through the 1950s, including architectural drawings, models, building fragments, films, television broadcasts, print media, furniture, tableware, textiles, paintings, photographs, and scrapbooks, along with a number of works that have rarely or never been publicly exhibited.

After leaving MoMA we had dinner at Tender, a delicious Italian restaurant, and then went to see our first Broadway Show! We all loved A Bronx Tale. The dancing, singing and acting was spectacular! There was an unbelievably talented boy about 10 years old that I couldn’t take my eyes off of.

We took a leisurely walk through Time Square after the show among the crowded street in the bright lights from the flashy signs. I have seen this so many times on TV but finally experiencing it live was so memorable. It felt great to be in New York City!

Subway stations can be huge. There are exits to multiple streets and even different sides of the same street. We are starting to feel like locals because we know to enter the last car on the A or C subway so when we get off at the Metro Tech stop the closest exit goes to the Myrtle Promenade.
