The Traffic Light that hates me

On the route to pick up my carpool buddy there is a traffic light that hates me.

In the morning as I leave home the light turns red and I have to wait and watch the cross traffic zoom by. When all the cross traffic lanes are empty the three-way light invites the oncoming traffic to cross or turn in front of me. Only when all the oncoming lanes are empty will the light grudgingly allow me to pass.

My carpool buddy does not have to wait. In the morning the light senses that he is approaching, halts the cross traffic, and allows him to pass by the cars waiting to travel from my house towards his house.

In the evening as I go home the light turns red and forces me to stop. As I sit in my car I remember waiting in the morning for the oncoming trafic to pass, and I think that it is now my turn to cross. But the traffic light that hates me does not let me pass, but insted now lets the cars traveling from my house flow through the intersection. I must wait for all those lanes to empty before the light lets me by.
